relation of 7 with english

In the book-2 of M.A.( previous )-english, named “poetry from chaucer to 1798 ),there is a poem whose title is ” Prologue to the Canterbury Tales ” written by Geoffrey Chaucer ( 1340-1400 ),
1-(A)-A few fragments of a household account-book of the countess have been preserved,and there is an entry in them to the effect that in april,1357 Chaucer was provided with a complete suit of a short cloak,a pair of red and black breeches and a pair of shoes for a sum of 7 shillings.
(B)-After the knight’s own son had served as a page in a noble family from his 7th to 14th year,he received his sword and girdle from the priest’s hands at the altar.
(C)-The Parish Priests in Chaucer’s days were very poorly paid.In 1354,Archbishop Islip limited their fees to 7 marks a year as a maximum.
(D)-The two prominent poetic measures used by chaucer are the 7 line stanza ( Troilus stanza-ababbcc ) and the Heroic couplet.
2-At the age of 16 years, John Milton ( 1608-1674 ), entered christ’s college, cambridge, where he resided for 7 years.
3-There was 7 children in John Donne’s ( 1572-1631 ) family.
4-( a )-The giant/beast in “The Faerie Queene Book-I” , written by Edmund spenser ( 1553-1599 ),had been great 7 heads so the giant was called as the seven headed beast.
( b )-Mercy took the true knight to a holy hospital, where they met 7 beadsmen who were the incharge of the various houses to perform the assigned welfare works.
5- In ” The Rape of the Lock ” written by Alexander Pope ( 1688-1744 ), the Petticoat of Belinda is ‘ the sevenfold fence ‘.
6-(A)-During the 7 years from 1793 to 1800, William Blake’s ( 1757-1827 ) creative output was enormous.
(B)-In october 1825, William Blake was asked to make illustrations of Dante’s Divine Comedy and to engrave them. He completed a hundred water colour designs, of which 7 were engraved and he was still at work upon these when he died on the 12th august,1827.

  1. According to the AMAR UJALA newspaper (dated-30-12-2007), Google companies’ googleplex,(estd.1997); first office was got established in a small garage. After the starting of the company, there remained only 7 workers for a period of  various months.

  16.    There are 5  numbers between 1 & 1000 whose sum of digits is 7  & they are also divisible by 7 i.e.  70, 133, 322, 511  &  700.  There are 14 numbers between 1 & 1000 whose sum of digits is a multiple of  7  &  they are also divisible by 7  i.e. 70, 133, 322, 392, 399, 448, 511, 518, 588, 644, 700,  770, 777  & 966. These numbers are also known as HARSHAD NUMBERS. Harshad numbers are those numbers which are divisible by the sum of it’s owndigit.

  17. 15873 is the  only AMAZING NUMBER which gives us a six digit number ( having all digits same ) on it’s multiplication by any number from the general table of 7 ( except the last no. i.e. 70 ) as shown . 15873 x  7 =111111 ;15873  x  49= 777777 ………………etc…          

  18. There are total 7 NASTY NUMBERS  in between the numbers from 1 to 100 . These  Nasty Numbers are 6, 24, 30, 54, 60, 84 & 96. A Nasty Number is a positive integer having atleast 4 different factors such that the difference between any one pairs of  factors equal the some of another pair of  factors e.g. Possible factors of 6 =1, 2, 3 & 6 . So, the possible pairs , 2+3=6-1

  19. 7 is the lowest HAPPY NUMBER . To find out whether a number is HAPPY or not , square it’s digits, add them up & go on doing this until you got 1 or the same number which you have considered. If you get 1  at the end , then the given/considered  number is a Happy Number ,otherwise not. Example-07=0²+7²=49 , 4²+9²=97,  9²+7²=130 , 1²+3²+0²=10 ,  1²+0²=1 . Hence , 7 is a Happy number. 

  20. If  we rotate any SUDOKU or MAGIC SQUARE at right angle ( 90°, 180°, 270°, 360° ) by keeping the centre of Sudoku or Magic Square as the central point / pivotal point for rotation ( keep the digits vertical & in the same boxes ) & then on seeing the formed sudoku/magic square in mirror , we can get 7 other similar sudokus /magic squares.

  21. By using some numbers or all numbers  in the 7 numbers list  you can add upto 100.  7 numbers are - 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 37 -Just try it now………………………

    Kalpana Chawla,NASA Astronaut
    Kalpana Chawla (March 17, 1962 � February 1, 2003), was an Indian-American scientist and a NASA astronaut. She was one of seven crewmembers killed in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.She earned her B.E. degree in aeronautical engineering at Punjab Engineering College in Chandigarh in 1982. Chawla joined the NASA astronaut corps in March 1995 and was selected for her first flight in 1998.

On December 3, 1992, an engineer named Neil Papworth sent the very first text messages written "MERRY CHRISTMAS" on it, to his colleague at Vodafone in Great Britain. But after seven years SMS service become very easy to use.
